Sheung Wan is a popular district just west of Central in Hong Kong Island. This is a great area for basing staying in Hong Kong if you want to be close to the vibrant restaurant, coffee shop and bar scene as well as being close to MTR stations that can connect you quickly to the rest of the city. This district is where you also find the important ferry terminal for sea bound journeys to neighbouring Macau.

There are some good mid-range hotels and boutique hotel apartment options in the Sheung Wan area as well as a fair amount of retail street side shops, the PMQ heritage and speciality shop venue, department stores like Wing On as well as quick access to some of the highest end malls in the city like IFC and Landmark in nearby Central.

Sheung Wan is where you also find interesting art galleries and antique street markets around Hollywood Road. The district is also know for the traditional Chinese medicine and herbal shops that line various streets such as Bonham Strand and Wing Lok Street. Along with Central, the district has become something of a street art scene as well, with quite a few nice graffiti artworks on the sides over various buildings.
